The Act-Belong-Commit York Conversations exhibition is based on a series of story capture workshops held in York earlier this year. Made possible through the generosity of former residents, students, farmers and others who responded to the call to share their memories and reminiscences, providing us with this heartwarming snapshot of York in its earlier days.
Visitors will be moved to laugh, maybe cry or perhaps, be surprised at the recollection of long forgotten memories brought to mind by this exhibition which comprises curated video recordings of interviews, accompanied by still images and memorabilia. The exhibition reminds us that history is not just what happened 100, 500 or 1000 years ago. York Conversations helps to preserve York’s contemporary history, as remembered by those still living and ensuring its safe keeping for future generations.
York Conversations will open on September 16th and extend through to October 15th.
This project has been funded by Healthways and by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) Culture and the Arts (WA).
