So exciting to be able to announce that the winner of the inaugural Hay Bale Challenge was taken out by York resident Karen Ovens for her entry “Up Up and a Hay”. The judge’s selected Karen’s sculpture from twelve entries which all demonstrated immense creativity and diversity in approach. Entries came from across the state with some entrants as young as 9 years. A number of entrants were entering an art prize for the first time ever.
The winner of the People’s Choice award was Dee Robinson for her entry “Emu Family”. Dee is also a York resident.
The draw to win the 14,000ft tandem skydive courtesy of Skydive Australia was Jean Wainwright.
We will be posting photos of all entries very soon. Thanks to all for taking the time to make this a very exciting launch of a new art prize and to our three judges, artist Sharyn Egan, arts consultant Paula Silbert and Rory Edye Manager of Gilmac Pty Ltd hay exporters. We look forward to seeing what comes next year.
