Celebrate the opening of The York Festival 2021 with us at our brand new speakeasy venue with special guests, local food and wine, and a performance by Stromatolites.

Namesake of the ancient organism from which life on earth has evolved, Stromatolites, have similarly invigorated the world with gentle bubbling of oxygen. Drawing on the iconic work of early jazz artists such as Sidney Bechet and Django Reinhardt, Stromatolites represent a broad spectrum of musical influences. Beginning from the primordial soup from which earth’s lifeforms have evolved, these influences extend to the very latest, most angular and outrageous melodic innovations. Comprising Simon Charles (saxophones), Jeffery Harold (guitar) Leon Pratt (contrabass), promise to delight audiences with their original renderings of Bechet, Reinhardt and Ellington tunes.

Formalities will kick off at 6:00pm.
