Free Community Concert Closing Weekend
The Act-Belong-Commit York Festival’s celebration of country bluegrass and good time music with the City Slickers bluegrass band, featuring Ian Simpson, Wayne Perry, Adam Gare & Peter Harper, plus the Original Vintage Variety Band and the Ukes of York.

City Slickers are an exciting new bluegrass ensemble that brings together some of WA’s finest bluegrass and acoustic country musicians. Featuring Ian Simpson (Slim Dusty Band, Paul Kelly & the Stormwater Boys) Australia’s national banjo champion and multi-Golden Guitar winner, with Wayne Perry (Bluegrass Parkway) on vocals and guitar, Adam Gare (Paul Kelly’s Uncle Bill, Nansing Quartet) on fiddle and mandolin and Peter Harper (Flash Jack, Mucky Duck Bush Band) on bass, the band bring together of wealth of experience in the bluegrass and country genres, plus fine harmony singing.
City Slickers will also provide a free community workshop prior to the concert on ‘Arranging Bluegrass Harmonies’ sharing the three-part harmony vocal arrangement techniques in the York Town Hall from 11am-12pm.
The Original Vintage Variety Band
The Original Vintage Variety Band is a group of six seasoned musicians that play a repertoire of folk, country and contemporary music stretching from the 1920’s ragtime tunes to the 1970’s contemporary. Formed in 2017, they have played numerous shows around the wheatbelt communities.
The Ukes of York
The Ukes of York are a community ensemble that play a great repertoire of classic hits and singalongs.
