Architecture Tour

This is a broken pediment. What other pediments are there in York? Can you find examples of alternating pediments, such as those you can see on the White House in Washington DC?

York is a special town because it has fine examples of more than a dozen different Victorian and Federation architectural styles, all within a short walk, and uninterrupted by modern buildings. On top of the list are wonderful examples of Arts and Crafts buildings designed by Government Architect George Temple-Poole. What about the York Town Hall!  What style is that?  Why is it special?

This one hour walking tour will introduce you to the many wonders of York’s architecture. Learn about architecture, learn about York!

Starts at York Town Hall
11am 23rd September & 6th October
