The York Festival attracts thousands of people to WA’s oldest inland town. This year, program highlights include the introduction of Wara (rice straw) Art to Australia. Over five weeks, Japanese artist AKIRA MORIYA comes to York for the Festival’s first international artist exchange. Over five weeks, Mr Moriya will lead a team of artists and volunteers (including you?) in the construction of three giant straw sculptures of endangered Australian animals.
Other highlights include the Running of the Lambs, the Hay Bale Challenge sculpture competition and the Great Convict Hunt, along with Spare Parts Puppet Theatre’s presentation of Moominpappa by The Sea, the maker’s market, comedy, silent disco and Cosplay + Croquet.
