The York Festival attracts thousands of people to WA’s oldest inland town.  In 2018, program highlights included the introduction of Wara (rice straw) Art to Australia.  Japanese artist AKIRA MORIYA visited York for the Festival’s first international artist exchange.

Over five weeks, Mr Moriya led a team of artists including Fiona Gavino and Yuko Takahashi and volunteers in the construction of three giant straw sculptures of endangered Australian animals.  The publis was invited to get involved and become one of the volunteers.

Other highlights included the Running of the Lambs,  the Great Convict Hunt, music for all tastes, the Maker’s Market, comedy, Silent Disco and Cosplay + Croquet.
