The York Festival attracts thousands of people to WA’s oldest inland town. Our location in the West Australian Wheatbelt informs much of the content of our program like Americana Music Association of Australia’s WA Launch Party (alt country music), the Mt Brown Run-Cycle, the Hay Bale Challenge sculpture competition and the Great Gold Hunt. Special highlights include Roald Dahl’s The Twits presented by Spare Parts Puppet Theatre. Want to know more? Settled in 1831, York is WA’s first in-land settlement and sits nestled in the beautiful Avon valley. It boasts many striking examples of grand early colonial architecture and excellent museums including the York Town Hall, the Residency Museum, the Courthouse Precinct, the York Motor Museum, Tipperary School and the Sandalwood Yards.
